What do you do in the Holding troop?
Loads of sitting around, loads of PT, all sorts of jobs and a lot of crap stuff, but if you volunteer for different stuff, something quite good usually comes up, i know lads that have gone on exercise with SAS and stuff like that, so its really up to you how you get on there. And i did my basic at Bassingbourn mate.
Have done any tours?
Nah mate not yet, but going pretty soon. ive not long finished training myself mate. spent over a year and a 5 months in training mate as a engineer. If your joining the engineers, after your combat engineering, you end up in a holding troop until a placement comes up for your trade course, when i was there some people had been in that holding troop for over a year without even doing there trade. Its a pretty long process. but yeah, training with the squadron to head out on tour pretty soon. What trade are you?
To the optimist, the glass is half-full.
To the pessimist, the glass is half-empty.
To the engineer, the glass is twice as big as it needs to be.
